Red to move and win. Find the move that wins pieces by force, then play the combination to the end while black defends. A wrong move is taken back so you can try again.
How the daily puzzle works
Every day brings a new position. You play red, and red has exactly one move that wins pieces by force, usually by giving a piece away so that a double or triple jump opens up. Find it, then keep going until the combination is complete. Black always answers with its best defense.
If you pick a different move, it is taken back and you can try again. Stuck? Hint lights up the next move of the solution. Each puzzle you solve is marked on the calendar in Stats, kept on this device.
Tips for finding the shot
- Look for black pieces with an empty square behind them. Those are the pieces a jump can land past.
- Count what happens after you give a piece away. A one-for-two or two-for-three trade is a winning shot.
- Remember that jumps are compulsory. You can force black's reply by offering a piece it must take.
- Check the king row. A shot that ends with a crowned piece is worth even more.
